Fifteen displaced in northeast side apartment fire
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Eight adults and seven children have been displaced after a fire broke out at an apartment on the city’s northeast side.
At 3:20 p.m. Saturday, Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) firefighters were dispatched to the 4200 block of David Street near 42nd and Shadeland Avenue on a report of an apartment fire. IFD firefighters and Lawrence Fire Department firefighters arrived to find heavy fire showing from the rear of the building on the second floor.
Occupants of the apartment where the fire started have been out of town for the holidays. The occupants are unsure what could have started the fire. Two apartment units were affected by fire, and four apartment units were affected by smoke and water. IFD is working with the Red Cross to help those displaced with shelter…
