Columbus celebrates opening night of Kwanzaa

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Friday marked the first day of Kwanzaa and celebrations are starting in Columbus.

Some local organizations have created a family-friendly event with a goal of sharing the holiday with everyone.

“Kwanzaa began in 1966, started by the honorable Maulana Karenga,” performer Oba William King said. “It spread all the way across the country over the years and even in other countries celebrating the harvest.”…
