Knoxville Weather: Warm and windy Sunday ahead of a strong cold front

Well above normal temperatures will continue Sunday with a breeze ahead of a strong cold front Sunday night.

  • Tonight: Increasing clouds and staying mild. Low: 57°.
  • Sunday: Windy, warm, and mainly cloudy. High: 71°.
  • Sunday night: (80%) Strong cold front brings rain, wind, and cold temps. Low: 43° (at 7:00 a.m.)
  • Monday: (40% early AM) Falling temperatures and windy. Becoming sunny. High: 43° (32° at 5:00 p.m.)

Clouds increase again overnight, and lows only drop into the mid-to-upper 50s. There could be some isolated areas of fog, but with the increasing clouds impacts look pretty minimal.

Sunday will continue the warm stretch, but it will be the last warm day we see for some time. Highs again near 70° are expected for most of us. It will be a mainly overcast day and a windy day with gusts up to 35 mph at times. Even higher gusts for the higher terrain of the Plateau and Smokies. Wind gusts could locally be around the 50 mph mark in the Smoky Mountains.
