Fentanyl crisis persists across Tennessee, putting children and families at risk

CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Across Tennessee, fentanyl continues drive the war on drugs. Different agencies have poured resources into reducing overdoses, but people are still being affected.

In 2025, law enforcement agencies have tracked a dangerous mix of drugs, but fentanyl continued to drive most overdose deaths.

“It’s poison,” Lieutenant Shannon Heflin with the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force said. “You know that there’s a potential that whoever you sell that drug to has the potential to die.”…
