Body recovered near Santa Cruz, authorities probe link to Monterey shark attack

Firefighters recovered a body from a beach north of Santa Cruz on Saturday afternoon, according to a social media post by the local Cal Fire unit.

Firefighters used a rope system to bring the body from the beach up to the bluffs, officials said. Cal Fire released no additional information about the recovery.

The body was discovered near the town of Davenport, which is on the opposite side of the Monterey Bay from where a woman was reportedly attacked by a shark last week. The woman, who was identified as Erica Fox, a 55-year old triathlete who loved the ocean, remains missing…
