CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Eastern Iowans gathered at the African American Museum in Cedar Rapids on Saturday to learn more about the cultural holiday of Kwanzaa.
The non-religious holiday focuses on family and social values.
“Kwanzaa starts with Umoja, which means unity and it ends with Imani. That means faith,” said Anthony Raybetters Jr., vice president of the museum board. “You have those other days that are encapsulated in the middle. But when you start with unity and you start with faith, that creates peace. And that creates cultures coming together and understanding each other.”…
