A 31-year-old man, Giovanni Javier Echevarria, is being held without bond after being charged with second-degree attempted murder. According to Local 10, Echevarria allegedly shot his girlfriend during an argument in 6700 block of Southwest 13th Terrace residence on Friday morning last week. Deputies reported that during a physical altercation, the gun went off, striking the victim in the chest and left buttock. The victim was able to call 911 and was taken to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in critical condition.
Echevarria reportedly told detectives that he initially pointed the gun at himself and then struck the victim with it before it fired, NBC Miami reported. A search of the home recovered the firearm, a shell casing, and a projectile. Echevarria has 72 prior records, including 43 criminal records…
