Funeral services for Staff Sgt. Nate Howard held Saturday morning in Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa– Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Marshalltown High School to honor the life of Iowa Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Nate Howard.

Howard and four others were ambushed by an ISIS gunman on December 13 in Palmyra, Syria, claiming his life along with Staff Sgt. Edgar Torres-Tovar of Des Moines.

After a dignified transfer by the Iowa Army National Guard on December 24, Howard was transferred by hearse to the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown where he was surrounded 24 hours a day by his contemporaries in the Honor Guard.
