For anyone seeking a nice meal to ring in the New Year, the Jackson area has options.
Most restaurants close on Jan. 1, but some chains, as well as some local favorites, will welcome diners on New Year’s Day, 2026.
Char

Char, an award-winning local favorite serving a range of upscale dishes from steak to fish, will open on New Year’s Day with regular hours from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Chili’s

Chili’s, including the Jackson and Madison locations, will open for regular hours from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Elvie’s
- Where: 809 Manship St., Jackson
Elvie’s in Belhaven will open for brunch on Jan. 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The regular brunch menu includes breakfast classics such as omelets, grits, pancakes and bacon.
Highball Lanes
- Where: 3019 North State St., Jackson
Highball Lanes is offering a “family fun pack” on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day for $75. The package includes bowling, pizza and soft drinks.
