Harford County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested 37-year-old Kenneth King Jr. following a Christmas night shooting in Edgewood that left one man hospitalized. The incident took place on the 1600 block of Candlewood Court, where deputies found 32-year-old Marquis Gaskins with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, as reported by WMAR2 News. Gaskins was quickly rushed by helicopter to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery and is currently in stable condition.
After the shooting, officers located King during a traffic stop that took place around midnight near Conowingo Rd and the Bel Air Bypass. According to Fox Baltimore, King was seen wearing clothing that was matching with what was captured in video surveillance of the shooting incident. Furthermore, during the stop, law enforcement observed and later safely retrieved a handgun from within King’s vehicle that also appeared to match the description of the firearm used in the shooting.
Evidence gathered during the investigation suggested that the confrontation did not occur randomly, but involved individuals who were known to each other. Several search warrants executed in the aftermath led to the recovery of a loaded 9mm handgun and multiple cell phones.
