PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — It’s been a cold, dreary day in the Piedmont Triad. The clouds and light mist remain this evening. Overnight, our temperatures will increase ahead of Monday’s strong cold front and areas of fog will reduce visibility.
Monday morning starts off with temperatures in the 50s and we’ll continue to warm to the upper 50s/low 60s through mid to late morning before the cold front begins ushering in colder air the remainder of the day. Our warmest temperature will happen in the morning with temperatures dropping through the afternoon and into Monday night. A line of showers is also possible as the cold front arrives mid-morning with rain chances of 40%. Winds will pick up through the day Monday with sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph and wind gusts up to 40 mph possible. Dry air will also filter in behind the front, leaving us with clearing skies in the second half of the day.
The dry air and strong winds on Monday will pose a high risk for fire danger. Red Flag Warnings are in place across the Piedmont Triad from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday. Do NOT burn for the first couple days of this week and please use extra caution if operating machinery that sparks. Cigarettes and matches also need to be properly disposed of to avoid brush fires…
