TOLEDO, Ohio — The Lucas County Coroner’s Office has ruled that 63-year-old Rinda Brown died from smoke and soot inhalation after her body was found in a burned-out home in south Toledo earlier this month, while the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Brown had been reported missing before her body was discovered Dec. 17 inside the abandoned home on Baden Street, which caught fire Nov. 24. Authorities confirmed she was inside the house when it burned to the ground.
According to Brown’s niece, Jamyia Smith, the home was where her aunt had been staying at the time of the fire. Smith said the family searched for Brown for weeks before learning her body had been recovered…
