Fire destroys Top Soil in Minoa: Investigation underway

MINOA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV)– A fire broke out at Top Soil in Minoa, which is used for office space and some storage.

According to the Onondaga County Fire Department, the fire was fully involved when the fire department arrived. Crews began extinguishing the building and protected nearby exposures to heavy equipment such as loaders, skid steers, etc.

No injuries were reported, and the building had no one inside at the time of the fire.

Minoa is one of the areas recently impacted by a water main break, with OCWA placing it on a list of municipalities asked to conserve water. A major fire, like this one, requires plenty of water, but rather than tapping into the village’s supply, the fire department used tankers from mutual aid fire departments, along with getting water out of Limestone Creek…
