New Iberia cruises into Darrel Mitchell Classic finals without blowout win

ST. MARTINVILLE — New Iberia Senior High showed both its promise and its growing pains Tuesday night, using a dominant first quarter and a decisive second-half surge to pull away from Rayne 52-29 in semifinal action of the Darrel Mitchell Sr. Holiday Classic at St. Martinville Senior High School.

“Inconsistency, man, that’s been our thing,” NISH head coach Colby Batiste said. “That’s kids. That’s inexperience sometimes. Being consistent is the only thing holding us back right now.”
