A strong cold front is slicing through the state this evening, already causing a 30 to 40 degree temperature drop across far northwestern Arkansas. That dramatic change will become more common as the front continues pushing southeast through the rest of the night.
Along the front is a very thin line of showers and a few thunderstorms developing across central and north-central Arkansas. This line is fast-moving and not expected to produce much rainfall. Once the front passes, temperatures will fall quickly and winds will ramp up, with gusts reaching 30 to 40 miles per hour. Most of the state will wake up to freezing temperatures tomorrow morning, and when you factor in those winds, feels-like values will drop into the single digits, teens, and 20s.
