LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – As the holiday travel is in full swing, drivers in Arkansas are paying some of the lowest gas prices in years. According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in the state is approximately $2.38, which is significantly less than the national average and hasn’t been seen in about four years.
Gas prices have dropped below $3 per gallon nationwide; according to AAA, the average price in the US is currently $2.83. According to GasBuddy, the national average hasn’t fallen below $3 since May 2021, which is a big change for drivers as the year draws to a close.
According to GasBuddy, lower crude oil prices, more supply from OPEC+ producers, record U.S. oil production, and robust refinery output are the main causes of the decline.
