Queen City Soul Kitchen, 1626 N. Boonville Ave., closed on Dec. 21 for good.

“We have accomplished what we set out to do! Our team has given their best to provide quality service and delicious made from scratch cuisine using the recipes of Ms. Francine Pratt who has prepared great food all over our nation,” wrote co-owners Lyle Foster and Francine Pratt in a Dec. 19 Facebook post.

The restaurant initially opened in 2021 on Broadway Avenue after getting its start as a pop-up in Big Momma’s Coffee & Espresso Bar, according to previous reporting. Pratt and Foster came up with the concept since, at the time, there were no soul food options in Springfield…
