LIST: Asheville shelters open during Code Purple on Dec. 30

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Several shelters will open their doors to provide warmth for the Asheville community amid cold weather on Tuesday, Dec. 30.

Shelters are available at the following locations:

Women:

  • Safe Shelter: 27 Balm Grove (Transit route: W2, W1, W6)
  • ABCCM Transformation Village: 30 Olin Haven Way (Transit route: W2). Women with children are also accepted.

Men:

  • Safe Shelter: 91 New Leicester Hwy (Transit route: WE1 West)
  • Salvation Army: 204 Haywood Street (Transit route: W5, WE1 West, WE2 West)

Couples and people with pets:

  • Homeward Bound – AHOPE: 19 N. Ann Street (Transit route: W5, WE1 West, WE2 West)

Entry to these shelters begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m., with no requirement for sobriety or identification. After 8 p.m., all entries will be facilitated by public safety or outreach staff…
