Nearly 800 new laws go into effect in California in 2026, including new worker protection laws

Hundreds of new laws will officially be on the books come January 1, 2026. Many of them will have a direct impact on pretty much anyone who has a job.

Senate Bill 3 will increase California’s minimum wage to $16.90 an hour to account for inflation, according to the legislation. Cameron Rosen, who works in the service industry, believes that while the increase is a step in the right direction, any further increases would result in pushback from business owners and corporations.
