CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The Cedar Rapids Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting on the city’s southeast side. Officers were called to the 300 block of 30th Street Southeast around 4:00 a.m. Sunday. The Department’s watch command confirmed one person was injured in what is currently believed to be a targeted incident. There is no suspect currently in custody, though the department says there is no threat to the public.
CLAYTON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office is sharing details about a fatal crash in Guttenberg. The office says the accident was at the T intersection of Osterdock Road and Garber Road in Guttenberg. Officers were called to the scene at around 7 p.m. Saturday and found a 2010 Ford Explorer turned over. Investigators say it appeared the vehicle flipped while the car was going off the road after failing to stop at the intersection. The driver was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. We do not know the person’s identity as police wait to alert family.
DYSART, Iowa (KCRG) – A Tama County man has claimed a winning $1 million lottery ticket. William Zak of Dysart’s winning ticket matched all five white Powerball numbers in the December 20 drawing. His ticket was just one number off from that night’s $1.43 billion jackpot. Zak bought the ticket at a Kwik Star in Vinton. Iowa Lottery officials said Zak claimed his prize on Friday at the lottery’s main office in Clive. A single Powerball hit the $1.82 billion jackpot drawing held on Christmas Eve, just a few days later. That ticket was sold at a Murphy USA gas station in Cabot, outside Little Rock, Arkansas…
