(WFRV) – As recently decided by a federal judge, a nurse from Appleton will now spend the next 16 months in prison for illegally giving out multiple prescriptions over the course of several years.

According to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Wisconsin, Jessica Friday, an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner from Appleton, was found guilty of and will be spending time in prison for several unlawful prescriptions issued between 2020 and 2024.
Officials say Friday pleaded guilty in August 2025 to one count of distribution of controlled substances outside the usual course of professional practice and without a legitimate purpose
During that 2020 to 2024 time frame, Friday is said to have issued prescriptions for opioids, including Oxycodone, without a medical necessity through an arrangement with her patients where they agreed to fill the illegal prescriptions and provide her with half or more of the pills for her own personal use.
