KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The former Jackson County assessor who came under fire for controversial property tax assessments over her final three years has sued her former employer.
Gail McCann Beatty filed a lawsuit on Dec. 22 against Jackson County, claiming she was wrongfully terminated for objecting to what she believed were illegal actions to roll back property assessments.
McCann Beatty, who had served as the county’s director of assessment since July 2018, was removed from her position by interim County Executive Phil Levota on Nov. 5.
