After 1.5 years of operating as a nonprofit focused on community art and charitable events, SuFu Creative has closed its nonprofit entity and will merge operations with a for-profit business, Zenith Art Studios, beginning in January.
Founder and owner Heather Cain, who also owns and operates Zenith Art Studios, said the decision reflects both logistical realities and the growing financial pressure facing small local businesses — particularly those in the arts.
“It’s actually going to be operated the same way,” Cain said. “We just decided to move away from the nonprofit aspect of it. I think it opens the door for us to give more opportunities to people.”…
