HARRISBURG, Ore. – A Harrisburg man is facing serious allegations after a deadly incident on Christmas Eve. Authorities have charged him with second-degree murder following a confrontation that led to the death of a pedestrian.
Linn County Sheriff Office deputies responded to Riverfront Park in Harrisburg around 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 24. They received a report that a vehicle had struck a man and then fled the scene. Deputies discovered the body of 71-year-old Russell Slonecker near the river. After reviewing security footage, they determined that Slonecker had been involved in an altercation with 48-year-old Bobby Joe Wagoner.
