Hawaiian Home Lands celebrates first transitional housing project

KALAELOA (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands held a blessing Monday to celebrate its first transitional housing project.

Hale O Kumumamo, a former Navy facility on Yorktown Street in Kalaeloa, can provide temporary housing for up to 18 people, plus a room for a property manager and a shared laundry room.

Rent will be 30% of a person’s income, and the shelter will collaborate with Kealahou West Oahu to provide comprehensive, coordinated services that will aid clients in securing permanent housing…
