Alabama Humanities Alliance gives up Birmingham headquarters due to federal cuts

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — For the first time in over 50 years, the Alabama Humanities Alliance is without a home.

On Monday, the nonprofit arts group announced that it was moving out of its office at 1100 Ireland Way in Birmingham and going full-remote. The group cited the government’s major cuts to the National Endowment for the Humanities, effectively ending funding for state-to-state humanities councils.
