CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A Lowcountry sheriff’s office announced Monday they will no longer report inmates who died of natural causes to the public.
A spokesperson for the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said the policy change comes, “out of respect to their [inmates] loved ones and families.”
The Charleston County Coroner’s Office is investigating an inmate who died on Dec. 6, which is the most recent inmate death, according to the office. The inmate’s cause of death is pending final autopsy results…
