Clintonville Residents and Columbus Police Help Recover Amputee’s Stolen Electric Trikes

“I went from sad and angry to very grateful for good people,” says Eva Simons. “Now, in just a few days, I have my cycling mobility back. This means so much to me.”

Simons has been a lifelong outdoor enthusiast and an avid hiker and cyclist. “From a small kid, I loved playing in the woods,” she says.

Tragically, Simons nearly lost her life in a wild dog attack while biking in Vinton County in October 2022. Since her recovery after an above-the-knee amputation of her left leg, she has become a passionate advocate for adaptive sports. She rode on December 6th in Johnny Velo Bikes’ Santa Ride which raises funds and awareness for Adaptive Sports Connection.

Two dates later, in the dark of the night on December 8th, thieves broke into her Clintonville garage and took her two e-assist recumbent tricycles specially adapted for her prosthetic leg…
