Fort Wayne Man completes Pokagon’s ‘Hell’s Point’ hiking challenge 125 times

POKAGON STATE PARK, Ind. (WANE) – A Fort Wayne native recently completed a feat that may seem impossible to some.

Steve Weaver, 75, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, a Purdue University alumnus and retired computer programmer, completed Pokagon State Park’s ‘Hell’s Point Challenge’ 125 times.

The 8-mile challenge weaves through the state park, creating a loop that connects to most of the park’s trails and takes hikers to the park’s highest point, Hell’s Point.

On Dec. 12, Mr. Weaver was crowned with the unique honor of hiking the challenge for his 125th time. According to a press release from the DNR, Weaver has hiked more than 1,000 miles on the parks’ trails, completing the Hell’s Point Challenge an average of three times per week…
