Woman arrives with handgun after being excluded from holiday gathering

A Leesburg woman was arrested for burglary after allegedly breaking into her friend’s apartment with a gun.

A homeowner and her friends were in her apartment on Bentley Road when they suddenly heard loud noises at the front door around 11:30 p.m., Dec. 19, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. This was the sound of 25-year-old Haley Marie Bitner, her friend of eight years, forcefully breaking down the front door and falling into the residence.

She then confronted Bitner and asked her what she was doing, since it was late and her daughter was asleep. Bitner responded by throwing her phone down and hitting her on her forehead. The two started physically fighting, prompting the homeowner’s other friends to try breaking it up. They pulled the homeowner off Bitner and threw her out of the apartment, the report said.

The homeowner later told law enforcement that Bitner did not live there and was not invited. They hung out earlier in the day but ultimately went their separate ways. While she was hanging out with her friends, they received angry text messages from Bitner due to not being invited to the get-together, the report said…
