ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Nearly $100 million in state funding is headed to the Finger Lakes region to support two affordable housing developments in Rochester, part of Gov. Kathy Hochul’s $25 billion, five-year plan to expand housing affordability across New York State.
The funding, awarded through New York State Homes and Community Renewal, will help create and preserve 282 affordable apartments in Rochester, targeting low- and moderate-income households while supporting sustainability and long-term housing stability.
The largest local award includes $58 million for Gateway Apartments, an adaptive reuse project that will convert a vacant office building in downtown Rochester into 129 apartments.
