As a powerful nor’easter approaches the East Coast this weekend, FirstEnergy electric companies are mobilizing crews to respond quickly to potential outages. High winds and heavy rain are expected to impact New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland starting Sunday.
Customers are encouraged to prepare for possible outages by keeping flashlights and extra batteries on hand, stocking bottled water and non-perishable food, and having extra blankets available. Avoid using gas stoves or grills for heat, as they can produce deadly carbon monoxide. A battery-powered radio and a hard-wired telephone are recommended for staying informed and connected during outages.
If you lose power, call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) or report online or via text. Downed wires should be reported immediately to local authorities by calling 911. Never approach a downed power line…
