The second-oldest house in Sarasota County is now open as a coffee shop, operated by locally owned Black Gold Coffee Roasters as Lord-Higel’s Coffee House in Venice.
After a sequence of soft openings that began Nov. 29 — the same day of the Venice Holiday Parade and the city’s start of its 18-month centennial celebration — the shop started its seven-day-a-week schedule earleir this month.
The coffee house opens at 7 a.m. — an hour before Venice City Hall — and remains open until 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday, until 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and is open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays…
