Chatham County Police looking for escaped fugitive

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — The Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) is looking for an escaped fugitive who got away while in a patrol car on Monday, the department said.

The CCPD said it is believed the suspect deployed a “pepper spray-like material” that caused the officer to stop. He escaped from the car in the area of Chatham Parkway and Police Memorial Drive.

The suspect, Robert Wayne Bookter, was placed into custody due to outstanding aggravated assault charges from another jurisdiction.
