Man accused of dragging body after shooting remains in Lubbock jail

A 54-year-old man arrested in connection with a deadly shooting earlier this month in rural Lubbock County remained jailed Monday, charged with murder.

Leslie Harston, who was booked Dec. 9 into the Lubbock County Detention Center on a count of murder in connection with the shooting death of 53-year-old Alfredo Garza, reportedly told detectives he shot an unarmed man multiple times after he was chased around his home, according to court records. His bail is set at $250,000.

Investigating a deadly Lubbock County shooting

His charge stems from a Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit Investigation that began after Lubbock County Sheriff’s Deputies responded about 2:38 p.m. Dec. 8 to a call reporting a dead body at a residence in the 6100 block of East County Road 7260.

The caller, who was identified as Harston, told dispatchers he shot a man who chased him on his property, according to an arrest warrant…
