Police search for man with special needs reported missing from New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Councilman Freddie King III called on the community to help search for 23-year-old Damien Godchaux Jr., a man with special needs who has been missing since Sunday, Dec. 21.

Godchaux was last seen on Ernest Street in Algiers, between Benn’s Grocery and the Cut-Off Recreation Center. According to the New Orleans Police Department, Godchaux is described as 5 feet and 10 inches tall, 280 pounds and was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with “Grand Scratch” written on the back, with blue sweatpants and black crocs.

“We want everyone to be on the lookout for Mr. Godchaux. He is a beloved member of this community.” King said, “It’s very, very important that we get as many eyes and ears on this situation so everyone can be on the lookout for Mr. Godchaux. Everyone wants him to return home safely.”
