DIXON, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — A championship in the Dixon Christmas Classic just wasn’t in the cards for the Byron Lady Tigers Monday night. The biggest reason was a talented Sterling team. Sterling got 17 points from quick moving and deep shooting Joslynn James, and Sterling won 43-26.There were other factors in that outcome. Aubrie Fuller, one of Byron’s starting players was sitting out nursing an ankle injury, and All-State senior guard Macy Groharing wasn’t herself. She has been under-the-weather the past couple days, but she wanted to give it a go for her team. She played three quarters, but she just didn’t have her normal energy. Groharing scored only four points.Byron’s record is now 12-1. Sterling’s record is 11-2. Watch the media player above for highlights.
