ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Law enforcement is intensifying efforts against drinking and driving as New Year’s Eve approaches.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico State Police will conduct sobriety checkpoints and DWI saturation patrols throughout January.
“When somebody makes that bad decision to get behind the wheel while they’re drunk, they could cause a crash and hurt or kill somebody,” said BCSO Lt. Trevor Weeks. “And it’s not just that driver, it’s the victim and their family, it’s my deputies that are getting called out to go do that investigation. So, it really is a community problem that we need to address as a community.”…
