Man arrested after taking Berkeley County deputies on vehicle pursuit

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCSC) — A man is facing several charges after he allegedly took deputies on a vehicle chase through several counties Sunday.

Jesus Gregorio Solis Olquin, 18, is charged with reckless driving, failure to stop for blue lights and sirens, driving under suspension and assault on a law enforcement officer while resisting arrest.

Deputies were patrolling the area of Nexton Parkway and Interstate 26 in an effort to stop ongoing street racing activity. During the operation, a deputy attempted to stop a black Ford Mustang that was speeding with its lights off on Volvo Car Drive. When the deputy was speaking with the driver outside of the vehicle, Solis Olquin went to the driver’s side and fled the traffic stop.

They later observed the vehilce traveling eastbound on the interstate near the Nexton Parkway on-ramp with the vehicle exceeding speeds of 100 miles per hour and weaving through traffic. They attempted to conduct another traffic stop, which led to him leading deputies on a pursuit…
