PennDOT has announced that speed and vehicle restrictions remain in effect on certain interstates in the northwest region due to ongoing winter weather conditions. Motorists are urged to avoid unnecessary travel. Those who must drive should note the following updates:
Speed Restrictions
- Speeds are reduced to 45 mph on Interstate 79 between:
- Exit 141 (Route 285, Geneva/Cochranton) and
- Exit 166 (Route 6N, Albion/Edinboro).
Normal speed limits have been restored on:
- Interstate 79 in Erie and Mercer counties
- Interstate 80
- Interstate 86
- Interstate 90
Vehicle Restrictions
Tier 1 restrictions under Pennsylvania’s weather event plan remain in effect on I-86 and I-90 in Erie County. The following vehicles are not permitted:
- Tractors without trailers
- Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded trailers (enclosed, open, tank, or tandem)
- Unloaded or lightly loaded cargo delivery trucks/box trucks (CMV)
- Passenger vehicles towing trailers
- Recreational vehicles/motorhomes
- School buses, commercial buses, motor coaches
- Motorcycles
