‘No legal issue’ with handling of Jay Jones’ reckless driving case, Roanoke Commonwealth’s Attorney finds

ROANOKE, Va. — The Roanoke Commonwealth’s Attorney has found that there was “no legal issue” with the handling of Attorney General-elect Jay Jones’ reckless driving case from 2022.

On January 21, 2022, Jones was charged with Class 1 misdemeanor reckless driving after he was found to be traveling 116 mph in a 70-mph zone in New Kent County, according to court documents.

Prior to the election in November, the case suddenly came back into the spotlight after reports cited Jay Jones completed 500 of his “court-ordered” 1,000 service hours at his own political action committee, Meet Our Moment…
