The Cowlitz Indian Tribe announced that it has surpassed $35 million in charitable giving since 2017, including $3.9 million donated this year to nonprofits and community organizations.
The contributions are distributed through the Cowlitz Tribal Foundation’s two grant programs, the Clark County Fund and the Statewide Fund, which support nonprofits providing food assistance, social services, medical care, educational programs and other community resources, a Cowlitz Indian Tribe news release stated.
“For generations, the Cowlitz People have upheld our responsibility to care for this land and the people who share it with us,” Cowlitz General Council Chair Bill Iyall said in the release. “When the Cowlitz Indian Tribe succeeds, the local community succeeds, and we are grateful for the opportunity to give back in ways our ancestors could only have imagined.”…
