LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Las Vegas Department of Public Safety is cracking down on illegal puppy sales across the valley after it cited 56 people this year and rescued 28 puppies from the hands of breeders who are making money from unwitting buyers “hand over fist.”
“Operation Pawsitive Change,” launched in 2024, aims to disrupt illegal breeding operations and prevent unlawful sales of pets in Las Vegas, according to a release from a city spokesman. The illegal sales in the area range from $350 to over $3,500 for breeds ranging from Chihuahuas, Jack Russel mixes and French Bulldogs, among others, the release said.
Some of those sellers, many cited for selling a pet without a permit, arrived at the illegal sales with firearms.
