Anchorage’s Sayvia Sellers already owns the title as Alaska’s greatest high school point guard and now she’s aiming to challenge Jeannie Hebert’s crown at the college level.
It won’t be easy; Hebert’s accolades at the University of Miami from 1988-92 are in a class themselves – Freshman All-American, All-Big East, 1,766 points, 694 assists. Sellers has entered the conversation after racking up elite statistics in her two-plus seasons at the University of Washington, putting her in position to make a run at the queen.
Sellers recorded 19 points and four assists Monday for the Huskies in a 94-73 victory over Northwestern in Seattle on a night when she reached the 1,000-point benchmark in addition to moving into the top 15 on Alaska’s all-time 3-point list (139) and inching closer to the top 20 in assists (242)…
