Schoharie Co. Sheriff: Patrol car stolen from deputies investigating vehicle thefts, then crashed

CENTRAL BRIDGE, N.Y. (WNYT)- A patrol car was stolen while deputies were investigating vehicle thefts in Central Bridge. Then it was crashed into two other cars while the alleged suspect was trying to make a getaway, according to the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office says deputies were investigating the theft of multiple vehicles Tuesday, December 30, when the patrol car was stolen from the area where the vehicles had initially been reported missing.

“A suspect was identified, the vehicle was located, and attempts to stop the vehicle were made by several law enforcement officers before losing sight of (the) stolen patrol car each time,” the sheriff’s office said…
