(Indianapolis) – A semi-truck hauling Tyson chicken products struck an overpass on the near east side Monday night, damaging both the tractor-trailer and the bridge but causing no injuries, police and witnesses said.
The crash happened about 7:30 p.m. near South Rural Street and Moore Avenue, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials said. The southbound rig attempted to drive under a railroad overpass marked with a 10-foot, 3-inch clearance, but was too tall and became wedged beneath the span. The truck and trailer — loaded with chicken — sustained significant damage, and the underside of the bridge also was struck in the collision.
Fire crews and IMPD blocked the nearby intersection so responders could safely free the vehicle. No injuries were reported at the scene, and the driver cooperated with officers…
