Massive Navy ship breaks loose in Baltimore Harbor as high winds force emergency response

The USNS Charlton broke free from its moorings on Monday afternoon after strong winds hit the Baltimore area.

The U.S. Coast Guard attempted to secure the 950-foot vessel, but McAllister Towing said the ship was still “out of place” and not fully secured. However, the ship was still being held by tugboats on Tuesday morning.

The USNS Charlton is a roll-on, roll-off cargo ship in the Locust Point Marine Terminal. At the time of the incident, the ship wasn’t on assignment, and nobody was hurt…
