Gunman Wounds 43-Year-Old Woman In Paterson, Arrested In Newark: Prosecutor

Imran Khan, 40, is accused of shooting the 43-year-old woman, bringing police to Wayne and Crosby avenues at approximately 5:30 Monday morning, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Officer-In-Charge Patrick Murray said. The victim was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson for treatment.

Investigators were able to locate a potential crime scene in the area, authorities said. A subsequent investigation by the Paterson Police Department Shooting Investigation Unit determined that Khan was responsible for the shooting, the prosecutor said. Later that day, Khan was arrested without incident in the area of Bergen Street and 12th Avenue in Newark, police said.

He was charged with second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree aggravated assault, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and third-degree hindering apprehension, authorities said. The state has filed a motion for pretrial detention, which will be scheduled before a Superior Court judge, prosecutors said…
