MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A murder suspect injured himself in a fatal Hickory Hill gas station shooting and checked into Methodist Germantown on Christmas Day, according to Memphis Police.
Ja’Vonte L. Cooper, 19, was charged with second-degree murder and the employment of a firearm during a dangerous felony.
On Dec. 25, police said around 11 a.m., they received a call about a shooting at the Exxon gas station on 4138 Kirby Parkway.
When officers arrived, they said they located a man they identified as Lawrence Cooper, who had a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at 11:14 a.m.
According to police, surveillance footage showed Lawrence arriving at the gas station in a black Infiniti. They said that while Lawrence was at Exxon, a silver Ford SUV arrived with Ja’Vonte Cooper and another male…
