Mobile and Baldwin see alarming surge in flu cases as 2025 ends

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Flu cases across the nation are skyrocketing, and the effects are being felt on our stretch of the Gulf Coast.

“Last week we were seeing about 11 people out of every 100 presenting to emergency rooms, urgent cares with influenza-like illnesses,” Dr. Kevin Philip Michaels, the Health Officer for the Mobile County Health Department, said. “This week, we’re seeing about 17 per 100.”
